"All dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them."
In December of 2012, I followed my guidance and launched my first ever fundraiser. As an MC and Auctioneer, I have done a lot of fundraising for others but never myself. It was so humbling. I had taken things as far as I could in the creation of the show and it was painfully clear to me that I had to ask for help. So, I made my first ever video, sent it out and released myself from the outcome. It was one of the most vulnerable acts of self love I've ever done, let alone publicly.
Then the phone started to ring, the emails started to come in, the knocks at the door began. I cried for the entire time, for nearly three weeks, day after day as acts of kindness, love, support, generosity and unconditional giving washed over me. One night, after a friend drove across town with cash in an envelope, I wept uncontrollably remembering a very dark night not too long ago when I doubted I mattered.
Kicking off the 2nd Annual Listener Supported Dreamraiser two weeks ago was another leap of faith because I had to believe, again, that it's ok to ask for help. I take the request of your hard earned dollars very seriously and hesitated for quite some time while my ego tried to convince me that I should already have it together financially to do this on my own. I don't though and maybe you don't either and that's ok. Support can be expressed in many ways and I'm open to all of them. So I gave myself permission to ask for help.
Then my Mackie 4 channel mixer died after only seventeen months of use and the fundraiser was launched without a live show, and then another. Humbling. So I saw it as a great time to further master IMovie on my Mac and through videos, emails, Facebook and Twitter the Dreamraiser rolled on. Today it is a smashing success!
I thank you. You amaze me. You made the tears flow again and I am so grateful. So far 41 DREAMRAISERS have helped me raise nearly $1900, the exact money needed to fund my royalty licenses so that I can remain a legal, independent broadcaster. How powerful.
My first twenty five years in the business was all about me, my blood, sweat and tears. Now, it's about us. I'm honored to have you with me as we launch our dreams together. The world needs them more then ever.
