April is National Poetry Month and CC is kicking it off in style with a community wide Classic Poetry Slam! A poetry slam is unlike any poetry event you’ve ever attended! Poets have three minutes to perform original poetry to a panel of Celebrity Judges who then score them on a scale of 1 – 10. If they go over three minutes the bell will ring! The whistle will blow! Top scorers move on to the second round and the final four go for the prize in the final and third round! Here’s what you need to know!
POETS
Sign up is between 6:00 and 6:30, max 16 participating poets. Poets must be 18 years or older and must have id if under 21. You’ll receive a stamp on your hand to signify your “underage for drinking.” You must bring three original pieces no longer than three minutes otherwise the whistle blows! No phones or props on stage. Judges score from 1 – 10 with the lowest and highest score eliminated before your total score is placed on the board. The final round includes the top four scorers of the night. There will be a first place cash prize, a second place cash prize and a People’s Choice winner! You admission is $10.00 at the door, cash.
ATTENDEES
Doors open at 6:00 pm. The event will run til about 9:30 and we will be out by 10:00 pm. Admission is $15 cash at the door or buy tickets here beginning March 22. Admission goes towards cash prizes. The Main Event Grille is located at 1041 76th off of Old Seward near Mr. Prime Beef. They have a full bar. Their menu will be on a QR code at the table. you can order food from their restaurant and it will be delivered to your table.
